32/365 pre vacation cleaning…or not

Remember yesterday when I was younger and full of hope and wrote about what I do to clean with an infant?

Well today I tried really hard, because we’re going on vacation on Thursday, to clean…pack….and Polly was NOT having it. She wanted me, she wanted to nurse, she didn’t nap well and was tired and needed extra naps.

I needed to wash dishes and I needed to clean out the fridge and do so many other things. But Polly needed me more, so we played and I held her and we got done what we could. She ‘helped’ me pack, by unpacking everything I put in my suitcase and playing with my clothes.

Here’s the list of things I wanted to do:

Wash and put away all the dishes

Clean out the fridge

Take out the trash

Pack

Mop

Paint my nails

Here’s what I actually got done:

Dishes

Packing

Sometimes you’ve just got to adapt and know that leaving your house pristinely clean for vacation is not always achievable. Where there is a will there isn’t always a way. Today Polly needed me so I focused on her and while in the back of my mind I was stressed about the lack of stuff getting done, we had fun. I did manage to clean the dishes, do a load of laundry (that I did not fold. Or put away. It’s still in the dryer) and clean the rug. I’ll leave the piles of leftovers and gone bad bananas in the fridge for next week…and I’ll get Janie to paint my nails at the beach and it’ll be better that way cause they’ll be even fresher for vacation.

Tomorrow we are running all over God’s creation, to the chiropractor, to math lessons and then Polly, Tripp and I are headed to Alabama to take the camper down to the beach. (More on that Thursday)  ☺️
