24/365 Ava’s Man

Ava’s Man tells the story of Charlie Bundrum. A father, roofer and bootlegger during prohibition, the Great Depression and the years that followed until the late 1950’s. It’s a beautiful true Southern story, set in Floyd County in Rome and parts of Alabama, both of which I also am intimately familiar with and grew up in.

It’s mine and Tripp’s current favorite book, we listen to it on Audible read by the author, Rick Bragg. We’re rereading it a second time now and I really wish that I could make it into a movie. But like a really true to the book movie with a folksy, blue grass, string heavy soundtrack and very straightforward cinematography. I have also, on the occasions where Polly is napping on me, taken it upon myself to cast the movie too. I’ve given it way more thought than a normal person ought to and have casted the three main characters.

Chris Pratt as Charlie Bundrum

He’d have to get a lot skinnier, granted. But I think his face his perfect for Charlie. I also think he could probably do a good somber southern accent.

Caitriona Baife as Ava Bundrum

Ava is described as having jet black hair and a feisty, aggressive yet loving personality.

Tim Blake Nelson as Jesse Klines (or Clines??) aka, ‘Hootie’

The quiet, odd hermit of a man that Charlie basically adopts into the family.

So anyways, Hollywood, shoot me an email when you’re ready to make this film. I’m here and very dedicated.
