1. The tv remote
2. Plastic water bottles
3. Laptop chargers
4. The vacuum cleaner cord
5. Small silicone spatulas 
6. Mixing bowls
7. Car keys
8. Silicone straws
9. An unused toothbrush straight from the package 
10. A tube of diaper cream

The point? 

Don’t be overwhelmed as a new parent thinking you need every toy (or toy subscription box) that you see on the internet. Yes, Polly has a few favorite toys she plays with, but as a wise Mom friend once told me, in the first year of a baby’s life, all they really need is you. 

So buy the cute lovey, buy the teething giraffe, but know that you (and your water bottle…or car keys) are enough to make your baby happy even when they are surrounded by a sea of toys.
