6/365 pregnancy is weird, man

…and it does weird things to you. Like completely obliterating your pelvic floor and forever making you doubt the safety of a sneeze. Then there’s just the plain  random weird things that happen, which varies from person to person. Here’s the things being pregnant changed for me.

  1. My knuckles are bigger??

At about 21 weeks my wedding rings officially stopped fitting. I had pretty constant and semi bad swelling that now makes sense since I ended up having preeclampsia. Since having Polly my rings fit again, but my knuckles have remained bigger for some reason. Insomuch that I can’t get the rings I used to wear on my middle finger over my knuckle…it’s really bizarre.

  1. I hate eggs

Which is really unfortunate because pre pregnancy and even during pregnancy I loved them but now they taste like old shoe and I hate them unless they are smothered in cheese.

  1. I can’t nap

This, possibly, is the saddest thing on this list and I think it may have more to do with being a mother and trying to constantly monitor the safety of my baby. All I know for sure is ‘sleep when the baby sleeps’ has never worked for me during the day. I can lay with my eyes closed for hours and as tired as I may be, I just can’t fall asleep. If I do manage to, it doesn’t last long and it’s a very light sleep that definitely does not feel restorative.

So yeah, this is my personal list of weird things pregnancy changed for me. I’ll be interested to see what the next (God willing) pregnancy changes.

Maybe I’ll start liking eggs again.
